Our Principles

Located in Johnson City, Tenn., we've been serving the communities of Northeastern Tennessee and surrounding states since 1986. With a mission to provide the highest level of care to our patients and community through the continued advancement of pharmacy practice, we have developed a reputation not only for our expertise but also for our principles, which ensure customers know what to expect when they walk in the door.

They set the tone for your pharmacy experience – and give you confidence that you will be treated well as you seek to be well.

Patients Come First

In our business, it’s personal. We delight in sharing in the lives of our customers. We celebrate your victories and mourn your losses. And, as healthcare professionals, we commit to continually educating ourselves on the latest treatments available to provide you the highest level of clinical services.

Treat Others How You Want to be Treated

We treat each person with dignity and value. In our conversations, on good days and bad, whether reciprocated or not, you can always expect this from our staff.

Choose to Encourage

The tongue is a powerful weapon, and our staff focuses on using it to build up, not tear down. That’s why each employee abides by our zero-tolerance gossip policy, making sure you are treated with the respect you deserve – even when you’re not in
the room.

Wisdom, Integrity and Trust

We pursue wisdom every day, and we pursue integrity in every decision. It’s what makes us a business you can trust with your most precious asset – your health.

To serve the great citizens of the Tri-Cities by providing exceptional service and low-cost prescription medications, enabling every customer to achieve positive outcomes, improve their health, and reach a maximum quality of life.

Jacob Cox

Jacob Cox was born and raised in Lexington, Ky., with his two older brothers. He studied biochemistry while playing soccer and tennis while an undergrad at Asbury University. Following graduation from Asbury, he attended pharmacy school at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., where he met and sat next to Chad Huntsman for two years. After pharmacy school, he went back to Kentucky to complete his pharmacy residency in a hospital, moving to Morristown soon after to work with Chad and Joe at College Park Pharmacy. Outside of work, Jacob loves church, playing golf and tennis, traveling, adventuring and UK basketball.

“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. I want people to know how much I care by being a champion for their health and families.”

Wayne Copp

A native of Johnson City, some of Wayne’s fondest memories are growing up on Baxter Street and attending Science Hill High School. He developed a passion for pharmacy and serving others while working with his cousin at Bailey Williams. It was there where he met Tom Mooney and soon after decided to attend East Tennessee State University. Wayne graduated with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and received his doctorate from The University of Tennessee. Wayne went on to work for the University of Georgia as a Professor of Psychopharmacology and then as a liaison to help prepare future pharmacists at the University of Tennessee. Eventually, Wayne brought his family back to Johnson City where he served as our Tennessee Director of Public Health. Wayne returned to serving the community as a pharmacist at Blankenship Pharmacy until the store closed permanently. Now, Wayne brings his vast experience and love for our community to the Mooneys family.

Tom Mooney

Tom Mooney, Sr., was born and raised in West Virginia. He attended Wake Forest University, where he earned a bachelor's of science degree in biology and chemistry, and the University of North Carolina Pharmacy School at Chapel Hill, where he earned his doctor of pharmacy degree. Tom has a long history of serving the citizens of Johnson City, first as a pharmacist at Howard Bros. Pharmacy, and then as owner and pharmacist at Mooney's Pharmacy. "Since 1985, Mooney's has focused on good prices and excellent customer service, priding ourselves on customer appreciation and understanding. My customers have become my very good friends, and some of my employees have been with me for over 30 years." Tom and his wife, Linda, have three children (Tom, Jr., Matt and Jane). Outside of work, Tom enjoys skeet and trap shooting, and serves on the board of the Unaka Gun and Rod Club.

Chad Huntsman
Owner, PharmD

Chad Huntsman was born and raised in Morristown. He attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. After working in Morristown for Mahle, Chad began working in commercial construction. In 2010, he went back to school at Walter State to complete his pre-pharmacy coursework. He attended Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy from 2011-2015, graduating with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Since graduating, Chad has worked alongside his father at their family-owned College Park Pharmacy, located in Morristown, and has transitioned to owner – and occasional part-time pharmacist – at Mooney’s. “I love what I do. It is an incredible blessing to get to know our customers and their families, and to help them as they heal."
